The goals of the NASA Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate (ARMD) Integrated Aviation Systems Program (IASP) include technology development for integrating UAS into the NAS. The UAS-NAS Project provides research finding to reduce technical barriers associated with integrating UAS into the NAS by utilizing integrated system level testing in a relevant environment. Since its inception in 2011, the UAS-NAS Project has been focused on providing research findings to inform standards development for detect and avoid (DAA) and command and control (C2) technologies. However, the long-term vision of the project has been to advance the overall state-of-the-art for the technologies necessary to achieve robust risk-based, data-supported oversight system, to obtain UAS access in the NAS. To help communicate the expectations and the role that NASA will play, the UAS-NAS Project is hosting an Industry Day on November 30, 2017.
