NIAS Unmanned Aviation Safety (NIAS-UAS) Center of Excellence

The NIAS_UAS Center of Excellence is the premier source of collaboration, reliable data and systems to protect lives.

Overview

Our vision is to make the skies safer, enhance the public’s safety, and privacy.

Our efforts save lives and reduce air hazards from drone
incursions by empowering a shared safety vision with the
FAA’s integration of drones into the commercial air traffic
system. We do this by providing safety incursion research
data, drone technology best practices, educational materials, and conducting public workshops that promote and protect the public’s safety and privacy in an open and ethical manner. We inspire our audiences to act.

The NIAS-UAS Will Protect Against Drone Users:

Collaboration

In addition to the NIAS-UAS mission statement, we also collaborate with public safety, emergency management, first responders, commercial drone companies, research institutions, science and technology companies, and government entities to advance Drone Surveillance, Detect, and Avoid (remote sensing), wildland firefighting, gas-leak detection, time-sensitive medical delivery technologies for life-saving medical equipment and organs, airspace integration technology (Unmanned Traffic Management), and mining safety technologies.
