AFWERX “Fusion Ticket” Finalists Demonstrate Capabilities at NIAS
Las Vegas, Nevada July 17, 2017 – AFWERX & Nevada Institute for Autonomous Systems (NIAS) partner for first time to demonstrate capabilities for the Air Force.
Resulting from the AFWERX Fusion Xperience, June 20 & 21 at Enclave Las Vegas, a team of military security experts selected the top 10 participating teams to receive a “Fusion Ticket” which allows them access to funds, coaching and utilize the AFWERX Vegas facility to further develop their innovation with the U.S. Air Force and AFWERX.
These teams have now gathered the week of the 16th of July to demonstrate their innovations, speak with investors, and potentially gain contracts with the U.S. Air Force to further strengthen our military’s capabilities. These demonstrations will take place at NIAS as well as at the AFWERX Vegas hub.
On behalf of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, the Nevada Institute for Autonomous Systems, a non-profit corporation, leads the growth of the Nevada Autonomous Aerial Vehicle Industry through business teaming relationships, collaboration with primary research institutions, and helping enhance the UAS industry knowledge base in order to attract new and permanent business within the State of Nevada.
“NIAS was the right choice when aiming to utilize a testing site for the multitudes of capabilities AFWERX Vegas sees come through the doors of the hub and the innovators looking to demonstrate their capabilities” said Mark Rowland, director of the AFWERX Vegas innovation hub.
This new partnership will allow the state run agency to be able to aid in the various tests that the AFWERX Vegas hub needs to execute when presenting to the Air Force.
“The FAA-designated Nevada UAS Test Site and NIAS Team are excited to partner with the incredible AFWERX Team. Together, we are stronger to grow the Nevada UAS Industry and significantly advance innovative drone technologies nationally and globally,” said Chris Walach, Senior Director of the Nevada Institute for Autonomous Systems.
